MB SD C4 Tourismo bus communication error (fixed)

I bought the MB SD C4+Dell D630 Laptop pre-installed bundle, when I test it have the problem SD Connect C4 cannot power on when connected with  Tourismo bus, I contacted there customer service at obd2toolcom, and here is the solution provided by their engineer.
I will explain my problem in detail:
” I have tried 2 different mb sd connect c4 on Tourismo buses and sd connect does not power on.In the meantime those MB SD Connect C4 works normally to any other MB Truck and car.also on Tourismo have check Mb Star C3 and works normally.”
You should check:
bus with OBD
pin 4 + 5
both must be connected and ground
In SDConnect “-” is 5 pin only. There is 4 contact not used in 16pin OBD connector.
“i’m getting an communication error when connecting xentry to a tourismo.”
Tourismo-bus-communication-error-1
A Communication error has occurred when access FPS system
Tourismo-bus-communication-error-2
Tourismo-bus-communication-error-3
Solution:
– turn OFF/ON BUS ground switch (our remove battery – cable). FPS1 wake up and Mercedes Star Diagnostic recognized FPS1/VIN code.
or
– enter the DAS ATEGO truck come and place manually and then it will work perfect
” Another problem is : “Currently the speed limit is set to 100 km/h. I’m trying to set it to higher value (with MB SD C4 DAS using modified EOL files). On the menu it tells me that I can, because there are higher values (105 km/h. 112 km/h, etc). But when I try to set the speed limit to higher than 100 km/h it doesn’t allow me to do it (can’t save the changes). When I try to set it below 100 km/h everything goes fine.”
I done the Access special settings , and it working perfect now!

How to use Benz star diagnostic Platinum Edition to reset SBC

When you choose SBC system, it will have an option, SBC RESET, after you enter this option, you will see special function, enter this and it will ask for the password, for this password, just fill anything you like, then click next step, then click ok, then follow the prompt to do next.
Proper steps here:
Connect MB SD C4 mux with W211 and laptop.
Start Star diagnosis software.
Select chassis: SBC – Sensotronic Brake Control

Select Control unit adaptions, and click on the tick button to continue.
Benz-star-diagnostic-reset-SBC-2

Benz-star-diagnostic-reset-SBC-3
Set a password as you like, then to continue.
Benz-star-diagnostic-reset-SBC-4
Click OK.
Follow the instruction on the screen to reset SBC brake.
Note
If you got German language Star diagnostic software, then follow instruction here
?SBC TOOLS RESET
It started like most of them…….
As a request !!
So it was a combination, of a faulty SBC, common sence, LOTS of time and GUTS to figure this out
Make sure engine is running !!!
In Developer mode you need to go to Entwickelingsdaten –> ansteueringen –> Gesamstliste aller Ansteuerungen
to see how many times brake has been pressed there is a line that says: Bremsenzahler (DJ_GetBrLive) or DJ_GetBrLiveTime
then 1 line down there you see Bremsenzahler aktualisieren und Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen –> click it !
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3
1 line down Bremsenzahler auf beliebigen Wert setzen (DJ_SetNBr) –> click it
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3
then scroll down untill you see the line’s :
Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen (DJ_CalcLiveTime)
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3
Lebensdauerzahler F neu berechenen und schreiben (DJ_BuildAndWriteF)
Parameter uINBR = 0
then click F3
Log out of SBC !!
log out of verhicle !!
let engine run at least 10 minutes or drive at least 10 minutes
If no coils are damaged, SBC fault code is not AKTUEL nomore
Note:
(Dj_setNBr) Here you SET new brake counter value back to 0
(Dj_setNBr) uINBR = 0
Resetting break counter to zero is in my opinion, not messing with …..
each time SBC powers up it checks itself time after time
If there occures any problem in SBC unit with valve, brushes or whatever, it will go into error anyway. that you will NOT be able to erase in Dev mode
If you switch on contact of Brand new MB with SBC and press break 300.000 times it will go into this so called “error” you wanna say SBC is broken then ? without driving a milimeter ?
No it’s indication to have SBC unit checked by MB workshop $$
Yes it’s true that MB has to replace Faulty SBC units for free
since Factory will pay all there labor & material
But most Dealers try to have costumer pay for this procedure claiming costumers car has no a Dealer serviced History

Should I buy GM MDI if I have Tech 2 already

I have a Tech 2 Scanner in hand, so is it necessary to buy a new GM MDI interface?
I am using Tech 2 off https://www.obd2tool.com/goods-1568-GM+Tech2+GM+Scanner+-CANdi++TIS+(Works+for+GMSAABOPELSUZUKIISUZUHolden).html
Here you go
The Future of the Tech 2
The Tech 2 remains an essential tool through at least the 2010 model year. The GM MDI will not support past models when its diagnostic capabilities are introduced. And, the Tech2 will continue to be needed to diagnose all vehicles fromprevious model years. Remote programming with the Tech 2 will continue to be supported for use on all 2007 and previous vehicles.Additional information will be supplied in future.
HOW WILL THE G-M MDI BE USED?
The new G-M MDI can be used only in the Pass-Thru method. This means you can use it as your programming tool, while your Tech 2/CANdi remains available for diagnostics and other duties.
This is exact paragraph from a sales pitch document for the MDI. I have issues with it, however:
The GM MDI will not support past models when its diagnostic capabilities are introduced.
I’m not sure what this means. The GM MDI WILL clearly support past model years with the tech2win applications. So I’m not sure what this statement actually means. The only thing I can think of is that GM will remove pass thru support at a later date, but since it’s all been cracked already, this shouldn’t matter.
The new G-M MDI can be used only in the Pass-Thru method. This means you can use it as your programming tool, while your Tech 2/CANdi remains available for diagnostics and other duties.
This statement implies that the pass thru method is a bad thing. Considering the tech2win application works perfectly with EVERY function on all GM vehicles as far back as 1996, I don’t understand what this is really saying. It implies that you can’t do diagnostic troubleshooting using pass-thru, when in fact you can.
As far as I can tell from my testing, this is a basic sales pitch in order to encourage people to keep the tech2 as well as purchase a MDI2 unit – both of which are incredibly expensive if purchased legitimately through GM.
In reality, you don’t need a tech2 and a MDI2. An MDI interface is more than enough especially on our older cars like the C5 corvette which GM will unlikely ever release further PCM upgrades for given the fact they were discontinued over 10 years ago.
